John Otts, LPC, CADCII (he/him)

John is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has integrated clinical practice, supervision, and professional education throughout his career. He brings a thoughtful, trauma-informed, and integrative approach to teaching that supports both clinical skill development and therapist self-awareness.

John enjoys teaching practical, evidence-based skills that clinicians can immediately apply in their work. He has facilitated groups and professional education for adults on topics including:

  • Trauma-informed care and nervous system regulation
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) skills
  • Integrating experiential and somatic approaches into therapy
  • Working with anxiety, depression, trauma, and attachment-related concerns



John is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and served as a Motivational Interviewing Champion at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation for five years, where he helped provide professional education and consultation across the organization, as well as for outside agencies.

In addition to his training work, John has served as a clinical supervisor, supporting clinicians in developing ethical, reflective, and effective practice. He places particular emphasis on integrating clinical skill, case conceptualization, and  relational attunement. 

John holds a degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University, with an emphasis in Wilderness Therapy. He is now focused on expanding his teaching to offer holistic, integrative CEU courses that draw from both established and emerging frameworks, including:

  • Transpersonal Psychology
  • Ecopsychology
  • Attachment Theory
  • EMDR and trauma-responsive interventions


John  is passionate about creating learning environments that support clinicians in expanding their skills that empowers them to provide higher quality client care.
