What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a unique approach to healing that uses creative expression as a therapeutic tool. Whether it’s drawing, painting, sculpting, or other forms of artistic expression, art therapy provides people of all ages—children, teens, and adults—with a safe and non-verbal way to express their emotions, develop coping strategies, and overcome mental health struggles.
How is it different from doing art on my own?
Great question! Art therapy is much more than simply drawing or painting. It's a specific process in which our therapist works with you to use artistic expression as a means of communication. Through art, you will be able to express emotions that may otherwise have been difficult to verbalize. Furthermore, having our therapist there gives you a safe and supportive person to then help you explore the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors present in your art.
