What is Ayurveda?
Thousands of years before modern medicine provided scientific evidence for the mind-body connection, the sages of India developed Ayurveda, which continues to be one of the world’s most sophisticated and powerful holistic health systems. Beyond a system of treating illness, Ayurveda teaches individuals how to proactively develop a healthy internal foundation by means of self-knowledge, appropriate diet, lifestyle practices, yoga, herbal medicines, detox therapies and more. Simply put, Ayurveda is the science of life, and its implementation empowers individuals to develop an intimacy with their mind-body-spirit system to promote health, vitality and longevity.
Addressing the Root Cause
Perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of the Ayurvedic approach to healing is the practitioner’s commitment to removing the root cause of dis-ease. By identifying the major circumstances, events, emotions, lifestyle practices, and dietary regimens over a lifetime that contribute to one’s state of health or primary concern, the practitioner strives to craft individualized protocols which resolve the patient’s challenges fully and completely, without resorting to short-lived or ‘band-aid’ solutions. This approach allows patients of Ayurveda to heal from the inside-out experiencing new-found levels of wellness, and freedom in the mind and body.
This approach to healing leads to incremental, yet radical change, and is best suited for the person ready to make immediate and necessary adjustments in their lives, motivated by a profound desire for change and wellbeing.
