MindTree strongly believes that every child has innate strengths of their own to cope with difficulties. These strengths become less dominant when child internalizes a negative experience and label themselves by his/her failures. Children have emotional needs similar to an adult, but may not verbally communicate their feelings just like an adult would do. Children feel safe when they communicate their feelings and emotions through play.
As a professional, trained in child centered play therapy, Harini will provide a safe therapeutic environment with selective therapeutic toys to help a child process and express his or her feelings in the form of play. Play therapy helps children learn social skills, foster self-esteem, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, and identify strengths to problem solve difficulties. Harini combines other modalities like Cognitive behavior therapy, art therapy, sand therapy, yoga and mindfulness tailored specific to the child’s developmental age and emotional needs.

We may not be able to prepare the future for our children, But we can at least prepare our children for the future” -President Franklin D. Roosevelt
Being a parent and having a family can be rewarding and amazing, since it gives us motivation to live, laugh and keep us going. Families can be extremely resilient, having the coping skills to face negative circumstances. However, there might be times where families go through a rough patch and everything seems like a struggle. During sessions, we will come with specific goals in order to help families learn new skills to succeed, based on their culture, values and belief systems.
