The birth of a baby brings excitement and new challenges, especially as parents and baby recover physically and settle into a new routine. The addition of a new baby to the family can be overwhelming in ways that the caregiver did not anticipate; caregiver might not be able to cope on their own. Lot of us have been lead to believe that having a baby is supposed to be one of the happiest times in a person’s life. While that might be true, many of these parents battle feelings of isolation, depression and anxiety; they don’t talk about it due to shame and guilt. Life can be challenging when you struggle with these stressors and therapy can be a great way to get the support you need to lead a happier healthier life.
MindTree’s therapists specialize in addressing mental health issues during pregnancy, postpartum and adjustment to new parenthood. Our therapists have experience working with parents experiencing depression, anxiety, birth trauma and attachment difficulties. In a calm and supportive environment, you will be given a place to discuss thoughts, feelings or situations that might be interfering with your daily life. A client-centered approach integrated with Mind Body meditative methods is used to work with women and their families as they navigate through their challenges of having a new born. Therapy sessions are generally one hour, but one and a half hour sessions can also be arranged. Babies up to 6 months are welcome at appointments. For those wanting their babies nearby, but not in session, parents can leave them in our child-friendly waiting room under an adult supervision.
