Individual, Marriage and Couple’s Therapist
Stress is an overwhelming part of modern life that can lead to psychological and physical distress. I believe that a compassionate, nurturing, and healing space to mend, emerge, grow, thrive, and restore a sense of wholeness and wellbeing are essential for recovery and that’s what I strive to provide through my practice. Knowledge, awareness, and insight are the cornerstones of therapy. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups addressing a broad spectrum of psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual issues with the goal to heal ruptures, reconnect to inner source of wisdom, strengths, and divinity.
By helping increase emotional awareness and identifying their related thoughts and behaviors, I facilitate understanding of causes and triggers for anxiety, depression, and interpersonal conflict. An appreciation of each individual’s unique background is crucial in comprehending how one relates to new information and experiences. I tailor empirically supported treatment to address emotional distress, help clients improve modulation of thoughts, feelings, and maladaptive patterns to repair wounds, rebuild interpersonal relationships that allows them to live with greater ease, aliveness, fulfillment, wholeness and higher functioning.
As a holistic practitioner, I honor diversity and multi-cultural values of each client. I guide my clients to consciously live from a place of empowerment, belonging, and finding purpose in life; to shift fixated patterns of emotional, cognitive, behavioral, spiritual, and physiological states to reprocess old response that no longer serve them, shift inherited concepts, ease restraints, adapt new understanding and skills to overcome challenges, restore balance, deepen awareness to live the life they envision for themselves. I also work collaboratively with other practitioners with the goal to help individuals restore equanimity.
My focus is on strength based therapy and positive psychology. My practice is based on eclectic approach, integrating theories from behavior therapy, schema/rational-emotive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness-based techniques. I incorporate systems approach, narratives therapy, emotion focused therapy and Gottman method for couples.
I earned my degree, Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Portland State University and I hold Nationally Certified Counselor certification. I am also serving as a Therapist at Cedar Hills Hospital, Portland. I am registered with the Oregon Board of Professional Counselors pursuing LPC.
I am a member of American Counseling Association and an active volunteer in the SAATHI project of ASHA international, a project focused on helping South Asian Community members dealing with mental health issues.
