Clinical Social Work Associate
Individuals and Couples Therapist
Greetings! My name is Morgan and I’m honored to serve you.
Background and Education
I was born and raised in North Carolina where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Appalachian State University. During school, I interned as an Equine Assisted Psychotherapist Assistant at a youth residential treatment facility. After graduation I accepted a full-time position working with youth as a therapeutic educational specialist. June 2016, I decided to branch out and fuel my adventurous spirit by moving to Portland! Gratefully, I was able to take a couple months off to explore the Pacific Northwest before taking on a full-time position with a non-profit working with families and children involved with child welfare. I worked at the non-profit for approximately three years before deciding to further my education. During graduate school, my practicum took place at the Center for Community Counseling where I was a part-time therapist intern. May 2020 I graduated with honors from Pacific University with my Master in Social work. Shortly after graduation, I received my level two Reiki attunement and have been practicing the healing modality since.
Therapeutic approach and belief
I believe we have the innate ability to heal and move forward from past trauma, deep seeded generational trauma and emotional blockages. My goal as a provider is to support clients along their unique journey towards cultivating positive desired outcomes while empowering clients to discover answers within themselves. We are powerful beings and by diving into our subconscious, we bring awareness to our thought patterns and cycles, which shape our reality, relations, and experiences. When trauma is not fully healed, it can manifest mentally, emotionally and physically. There is an integrative connection between the mind and body. So, I approach my work with clients from a depth based perspective while utilizing mindfulness to stay present in the moment. In addition to utilizing talk therapy, I like to incorporate psychosomatic exercises in my session to bring clients more into their bodies and bridge that connection with the mind.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a very specific form of universal energy that the provider channels to activate healing. The intention is to create deep meditative relaxation, reduce physical and emotional pain, and to support overall healing.
