Child & Family Behavioral Nutritionist
Child, Adolescent, & Family Therapist
I have worked with children and adolescents for over 10 years. My background includes childhood psychology, nutritional sciences, elementary education, health coaching, food relationship coaching, and executive skills coaching. I recognize that helping children make any type of change requires compassion, commitment, and the entire family’s support. I believe that children learn at their own pace and in their own way. I am committed to evaluating your child with care and personalizing my counseling techniques to produce the highest result. I will make every effort to support your child in developing a better understanding of food and how it interacts with their body. My specialty is in working with children and adolescents who need nutritional support. This includes obesity, eating disorders, ADHD, ADD, Autism, Anxiety, Allergies, Depression, and low self-esteem or poor school performance.
I grew up in Portland, Oregon and experienced significant difficulties with obesity and self-efficacy throughout my childhood. Upon high school graduation, I ventured to Eugene to pursue my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education at the University of Oregon. I was driven to create a classroom environment that provided a safe space for students to learn academics, life skills, and self-efficacy. While completing my teaching practicum, I was startled to witness the lack of attention to nutrition education. Determined to address this issue, I changed my path. I immediately hired a nutritionist and learned about my own nutritional deficiencies and how they impacted my emotional health.
After a year of focusing on my emotional and physical health, I attended Pacific University to obtain a Master of Arts in Childhood Psychology. During my time there, I learned the effectiveness of behavioral therapy and felt that it was essential to approach nutritional changes with a behavioral lens. Eager to learn more about nutrition and its effect on the body, I attended the National University of Natural Medicine and earned my Master of Sciences in Nutrition. I am currently a Nutritionist and registered with the Oregon State Board of Professional Counselors pursuing licensure as a professional counselor (LPC).
When I’m not interacting with my clients I love spending time with my family, hiking, photographing nature’s beauty, exploring the beaches and forests of Oregon, stand-up comedy and spending time with my partner Tyler and my cat.
